About

Hello.

Charles VothI’m Charles Voth, a crochet and knitting professional.

I like to blog about places I knit and crochet, and I enjoy reviewing yarns and tools to help others find materials that will help them be happy with what they stitch. I believe in life-long learning—in all parts of my life, and so I like to share tips on crocheting and knitting, eating gluten free, and other odds and ends.

I design garments and accesories and items for the home. At the moment, I’m in the process of adding my patterns to this site. In the meantime, you can find my designs on Ravelry and Patternfish.com.  I teach both crafts at yarn stores, in schools, and at craft shows and retail events. I am also a technical editor of both crochet and knitting patterns and illustrate the charts and diagrams that make pattern reading accessible to so many. Occasionally I’m a guest blogger over at KnitMuch.com, too.

I have been crocheting for 45 years and knitting for 39. I began to design out of necessity at 15 years of age and haven’t stopped.

I am also an ESL professor at my local college. I’ve been a language teacher for 27 years.

I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my wife and two college-aged sons.
